Winter 2015 Drawing Final
I love to create art because it allows me to express my feelings. Creating art is a personal outlet that I use to express my feelings since I'm not much of a writer. Art makes it easy to convey a message with different colors, textures and levels rather than writing which uses a much more complicated structure. My favorite type of art is photography. I love to take pictures because it captures moments that cannot be recreated the way that it was originally, that's what interests me about art.
Art is the result of placing one's thoughts or feelings in a
coherent, concrete message
, to be interpreted by other people regardless of their ability to make such art.
Art is communication
: the artist formulates a message for a recipient, and transmits it through a channel
, which is the
physical form
of the art, which could be a song, a painting, sculpture, poetry, etc. Mary Doodles is a big inspiration to me, despite being a small artist. She creates these really cool winding doodles that tell stories and have so much movement.
When creating a piece, my process is very willy-nilly and driven on impulse. I could make one last paint splatter, or pencil mark and ruin the entire thing. That's very frustrating for me. I prefer photography, but I really like pencils, pens, and alcohol based markers. I think they give a piece more of an animated type feel to the piece.
Well obviously I need to work on time management. But I feel like I need to be able to draw from life better than I do now. I need to work on line quality and subject matter. I would really like to complete a project next semester that really interests me. I haven't been very interested in any of the projects so far and I really think that its affected my ability to put real time and effort into a piece. I don't really have an goals for next semester so I'm going to go with the "I just want to pass" goal.
